Unalloyed Spring Steel

The maximum load length (E.L.) is recommended for static or pseudo-static loaded springs at operating temperatures up to 104°F (40°C). The relaxation, or power loss over time, remains acceptably low for most applications under these conditions. Loading the spring beyond E.L. is discouraged for higher operating temperatures or lifespans exceeding 10,000 cycles.

For these stainless steel springs, the maximum load length (E.L.) guidance for static or pseudo-static loaded springs increases to operating temperatures of 302°F (150°C).

Note on Loop Length and Spring Force Calculation

The loop length should be at least 0.75 times the inside diameter (I.D.). To calculate the spring force at a certain length, multiply the travel (in mm) by the rate (R) and add the initial force (F0).

Keep in mind that 1 kp = 9.80665 Newtons or 1 Newton = 0.10197 kp.
