Lesjöfors Stock Spring US custom compression springs are made from various materials to suit design and application requirements:

• Unalloyed spring steel: ASTM A228 (Music Wire) and ASTM A401 (Chrome Silicon)
• Stainless spring steel: AISI 302, ASTM A313 (Type 302 Stainless Steel)

Load Length and Temperature Considerations

Minimum load length (CL) is recommended for static or pseudo-static loaded springs operating at temperatures up to about 104°F (40°C) for unalloyed springs and up to 302°F (150°C) for stainless steel springs. This ensures relaxation and power loss over time remain within acceptable limits for most applications. For higher operating temperatures or dynamic life demands over 10,000 cycles, the spring should not be loaded beyond CL.

Maximum Permitted Operating Temperature:

• ASTM A228 (Music Wire): ~248 °F (120 °C)
• ASTM A401 (Chrome Silicon): ~482 °F (250 °C)
• AISI 302, ASTM A313 (Type 302 Stainless Steel): ~482 °F (250 °C)
